Spoleto Festival USA 2011

We were thrilled to work with Spoleto Festival USA on the 2011 festival season ticket brochure. We worked with local photographer Doug Hickock of Hue and Eye Photography on the cover shot and were provided with outstanding imagery for the performances. We can't wait to check out some of the shows this year. At the top of our list: Comparison is Violence, The Red Shoes and Sarah Jarosz.

The Connellys Photography

Over the past several months, we've had the pleasure of working with the husband and wife wedding photo team - The Connellys. Darrell and Eleanor came to us for a re-brand: a new logo, stationery package and overall company presentation. They wanted to communicate that they were wedding photographers, but not in a typical or expected way. We came up with the idea of using the wishbone (a traditional symbol of good luck in life and in weddings). We're in the process of completing the support materials and hope to share those soon.

Stitch recently completed this wedding website for our sister company Sideshow Press. Sideshow is working with the bride and groom-to-be on custom letterpress event materials. The couple was interested in a website so Stitch stepped in to design the couple a site that would perfectly match their save the dates.

We've always been fans and admirers of the Indie Grits Film Festival in Columbia, South Carolina. Earlier this year, when the festival approached Stitch about working on the 2011 materials, we were thrilled! Andy and the folks at the Indie Grits asked us craft a new look for this year. Through the illustration and typography, we set out to tell the story of a film and all that goes into making them small works of art. The above imagery is the call for entries poster that was distributed through out the South East last week. We're already busy working on posters, tee-shirts, lanyards and more for the festival coming this April.

A LITTLE ABOUT INDIE GRITS...

The mission of Indie Grits is to break down any walls that may intimidate first time media makers by creating exhibition opportunities for work that might not make it into other festivals. Indie GRITS will present a fun, exciting and enlightening opportunity for experienced and first-time media makers to come together and share their interest in independent media production.

The Indie Grits Film Festival is presented and created by the Nickelodeon Theatre - the only non-profit art house film theater in South Carolina. The talented Lexington photographer Melanie Mauer recently contacted Stitch to help her brand Pearl, a collection of Lexington's finest wedding professionals. Pearl is a resource for brides intended to inspire, enthuse and assist in crafting a beautifully executed wedding.

We worked with Melanie to design the Pearl logo as well as the Pearl blog site. We also worked on several promotional materials for the Pearl brides-to-be; screen printed Scout Books, pencils, note paper and more.

We recently updated their logo and are currently working on their new identity. Vintage china stamps and patterns were our inspiration behind this classic simple mark.

Kathleen Rogers, the Weddings Coordinator for Seabrook Island came to us with a great idea to start a blog all about weddings on water. Working with brides every day at Seabrook gave Kathleen the idea to to highlight beautiful events held all across the country surrounded by water. We designed this custom blog template for her using vintage sea life illustrations, a simple cross hatched background and classification styled headers. We enjoyed working with Kathleen and now enjoy following her on Waterside.

Lowcountry Field Feast

We just finished up this invitation design for the second annual Field Feast, a dinner to benefit Lowcountry Local First. The invites were printed three color letterpress on reusable cloth produce bags. A mailing tag was sewn on to the bag and they mailed to doorsteps, as is. The event will be held at Rosebank Farms on John's Island with food by Chef Mike Lata of FIG.

Fabien Barral of Graphic-Exchange, recently asked Stitch to do a real graphic exchange. Several weeks ago we packaged up some of our favorite samples and sent them to Euzet, France. We received our exchange last week, a package of beautiful work from Fabien. It's always so exciting to get a package in the mail especially when it's from a fellow talented designer. Thanks Fabien!

In addition to the brochure we just completed for Winter Haven Hotel, we were also asked to design a rack card for Blue Moon Hotel. Again, we saw this as an opportunity to do something a little bit more out of the ordinary. This small brochure fits into an A2 envelope for mailing. Jason Rose from Ventana Hotels and Resorts came to us to design a rack card for the newly branded Winter Haven Hotel. We saw this as an opportunity to do something a little bit more unique than your standard hotel rack card. Our job was made that much easier with beautiful photography to work with including Holga shots of the property. The small brochure fits into a monarch envelope for easy mailing. The brochures will be distributed to travel agents and trip planners.

Therapy Dog Treats

This simple treat tin is one of our favorite projects to date. Not just because it was a fun project to work on, but because it has a positive social impact. Harry Barker contributes a portion of their proceeds, from the sale of these tins, to the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital. The proceeds support their therapy dog program and help to ensure that loving dogs continue to encourage children to get well.

We just completed these stationery and media kit pieces for Legends Magazine, an annual publication from Kiawah Island with nationwide distribution. For the past twenty years, Legends Magazine has combined substantive articles with exceptional photography, art and design. The team at Legends approached Stitch to help redesign the magazine and refine the details. We'll be working with them on pieces like their stationery package and media kit all the way down to important details like margins and folios of the magazine itself. Our favorite kind a project, big picture with lots of details!

Working Class Creative

Pecha Kucha Charleston 7 was held last night in the historic Sottile Theater in downtown Charleston. Each presenter was incredibly inspiring and we left the event reminded of how lucky we are to live in a town with so many creative, talented people.

Parliament, the group who puts on Pecha Kucha, recently asked Stitch to design a campaign to showcase that very idea. We were asked to give a visual identity to the 27,000+ creatives that live and work in the Charleston area. We collaborated with the talented writer, Sandy Lang to come up with Working Class Creative, this family of logos/badges and membership card.

On the heels of re-branding Winter Haven Hotel, we also just completed this new logo and graphic elements for Blue Moon, another iconic South Beach Miami Art Deco hotel. We created the logo to reflect this Mediterranean style boutique hotel, simple and charming.

We've just completed this logo for Winter Haven, a hotel in South Beach Miami. Designed by architect Albert Anis, the hotel is well known for its Art Deco styling and ocean view. The logo incorporates elements of the building's aesthetic infused with the bright colors of South Beach. We actually designed two logo variations for Winter Haven, giving the client flexibility of use on everything from collateral material, signage, and in-room materials.

Harry Barker Graphic Dogs

Here's another bold new graphic dog bed from Harry Barker. We carefully illustrated the wide range of dog breeds represented in this new pattern. It was not an easy pattern to master the repeat, but we were able to move the dogs around until the pattern fit perfectly. We made sure to include the Stitch dogs, Molly (German Shorthaired Pointer) and Bessie (Black Lab), in the final pattern.

The Made in the South Awards

Some of the best things in the world are made in the South. And the editors of Garden & Gun magazine want to know about more of them.

Last week, the magazine launched the first-ever Made in the South Awards, a celebration of Southern craftsmanship and ingenuity. Whether you've just rolled out a new packaged barbecue sauce or you've been making bamboo fly rods for years, this is the perfect opportunity to showcase your goods. Anyone whose product or small business is based in the South may enter one of the five categories: Food, Home, Style, Sporting, and Ect.

Heather Wilson of Haven Architecture came to us looking for a unique identity and customizable stationery set. For her business cards we used several different shades of white and grey mat board as the stock, letterpressed her contact information and then developed a series of rubber stamps for Heather to customize each card with. We printed 250 cards and know that with Heather's creativity no two will be alike.

Trident United Way

Each year, Trident United Way hosts a Women's Leadership council luncheon. This year the keynote speaker was Connie Duckworth, CEO of Arzu Studio Hope. Arzu is an innovative model of social entrepreneurship that helps Afghan women weavers by sourcing and selling the rugs they weave. Arzu addresses three interdependent needs: consistent and improved employment, access to education, and access to basic healthcare. With such an inspiring company and product, the invitation came together organically. We used interlocking lines to evoke thread and rich color inspired by their beautiful woven rugs.

POUT, a boutique in Columbia’s premier shopping district that offers the latest in high‐end beauty products and an array of skin services and treatments, asked us to help create a wedding services brochure. The brochure serves as a six month treatment time-line for brides to prepare for their wedding day. We played around with with eye shadow and mascara on paper to create the field of color on the cover.

Element Hotel

Ventana Hotels & Resorts recently came to us with some great non-traditional marketing ideas. We enjoyed collaborating with their team on these two pieces for Element Hotel in Las Vegas. The key card and key card sleeve will be distributed to potential guests as an invitation for one night's stay. The door hanger will be waiting for the guest in their car upon the completion of their stay, used as a valet tag. We love the simplicity in message and construction of each of these two pieces.

The judging for Logo Lounge Volume 6, has been completed and we are excited to receive news that five of our logo designs were chosen to be included in their annual set to release February 2011. We just completed this promotional piece for Tara Guerard Soiree. It's a simple brochure, highlighting four of her recent events with the first and last page supplying basic information. The brochure is intended to be a teaser to lure the potential client to her website, which Stitch recently helped launch. The brochure nests in a die cut pocket, complete with orange gussets, a ribbon pull, and a customizable letterpress tag. Our challenge was to create a unique direct mail piece, full of original and clever detail's not unlike what Tara instills in all of her special events.

Several months ago Mike Lata and Adam Nemiro, the partners of FIG, came to us looking to refresh their restaurant's identity. Adam and Mike were still very happy with their logo, but wanted to extend their brand beyond just menu templates. With Charleston Fashion Week on the horizon (March 16-20), and exciting local events like the opening of the pop-up shop Novel in downtown Charleston we thought we'd share the work we've done over the past several years with Marysia Reeves. Marysia is the designer behind Marysia Swim, and will have her swimwear at Novel this month. Marysia also just launched an e-boutique featuring her new 2010 collection on her website. We originally helped with branding Marysia Swim, but have again recently been working on additional branding pieces this year. We're always inspired by Marysia's work and her beautifully retro swimwear line.

The Troubadour Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Lindsey Carter, the designer and owner of Troubadour, came to us to design a look book for her clothing line. Troubadour is inspired from from three major influences in Lindsey's life; the South, the City, and the Sea. Lindsey's designs personify her own effortless style; a reckless preppy with a twist of edge. That narration was the jumping off point for our design of her look book. Troubadour has just released their Fall/Winter 2010 Collection, so check it out.

We have so much fun working on these with Carol Perkins Rawle, owner of Harry Barker, because she always comes to us with the best inspiration. Carol is great at pulling together magazine tear outs, vintage packaging samples and unique fabric swatches - all of which gives us a wonderful place to start designing.

Spoleto Festival USA

We have had the pleasure of working with Spoleto Festival, USA in designing the ticket brochure for the 2010 season. In December we finished laying it out and sent it off to print; we are very excited with the finished product. The performance photos this year were especially outstanding and led the way for a simple, and understated piece. Each year the brochure features all performances for the two week festival, and like every year since 1977, Spoleto will be bringing some of the most innovative artists and performers from across the globe to Charleston.

We are especially close to this project. Stitch designed this stationary package and website for our sister letterpress company Sideshow Press. In many ways it's wonderful to be the designer and the client and then in other ways it can make the project that much more challenging. We experienced both sides of the coin through out the design process. This identity has been years in the making and it has been that much more rewarding for the work to be recognized. Stitch Wins Best in Show!

The Charleston Addy awards were this weekend. And right off the heels of winning "Best In Show" for the South Carolina AIGA InShow, we won "Best In Show" for the Charleston Addy's as well! The big winner was the work we've done for our sister company Sideshow Press . We also took home "Best of Integrated Branding", 7 golds and 6 silvers. It was a rockin' evening with mac n' cheese, french fries and live bands taking the stage through out the night.

Soiree

We were more than flattered when Tara Guérard, owner of Soiree Events, approached us about updating her brand. Along with her talented team, Tara creates exquisite settings for a bride's big day. Her use of lighting, patterns and texture were the inspiration behind these pieces. We are most excited about the flocked pattern printed on platinum paper, which was used to back the letterpressed note cards and business cards. We're also in the final stages of designing the website so please check back in a few weeks for an update.

Cutey Booty

We've had the pleasure working with the brand new Charleston based company Cutey Booty. The two moms behind the company came to us with a catchy name and a simple idea. Modern and simple boxers and bloomers for baby's bottoms. We've been lucky enough to help them along from the very beginning. From their logo and identity to weighing in on fabric color and monogram lettering. We're currently working on their website, so be on the look out for more Cutey Booty to come!

Shop Pearl Online

We just finished this stationary package for Barlow & Bishop, an interiors firm in Charleston, SC. The women at Barlow & Bishop do beautiful interiors, full of texture and elements of nature, all while maintaining a modern edge. Their work was the inspiration behind this new stationary package. We think it helps capture a glimpse of what they do so well.

A Back Stage Pass with Bling

Stitch was excited to be asked to design the invite for this year's Addy Awards for the Advertising Federation of Charleston. We had fun "blingin" this one out. The awards show will carry through the theme, with the Gold winners going home with nothing other than gold (not solid) records.

We just completed this logo and stationary set for North Carolina photographer Lee Ann Fuller. Her target audience are teens and young adults. It was a nice change of pace to get to design for a younger audience.

We've been working with the new owner of an established chocolate shop in Mt. Pleasant, SC. She recently acquired the shop and decided it was time for a new name, identity and a fresh look. We've been lucky enough to have the opportuntity to work on her new logo and materials as well as sample a few of her delicious truffles and candies along the way.

We just finished this logo design for Petite Simone. Eve Hobgood is a New York photographer who takes really cool photos of infants and kids using cameras like a Holga and Polaroid Landcamera.

Clothing with a Conscience

We are currently working with House of Rok, a Charleston based fashion company who is determined to change the image of eco-conscious clothing. They asked us to create this sub logo to use along with their brand as a symbol for eco-conscious clothing. It will appear on hang tags and garment labels. We're currently working on their website and stationary package.

Grocers Gala

This past Friday we made trip to Columbia for the AIGA South Carolina InShow Awards. It's an annual event that features designs from across the state. Stitch walked away with 7 cubes of cheese and a special judges award for Library: Archives of Fashion.

Our sister company, Sideshow Press, took home the Howie (Best in Show Award) for our design of their stationery package. All and all, it was a really great show and we are always honored to be included.

Catch and Release... children's clothing. We just finished logo for a new online company that will be reselling children's clothing online. With two little ones of our own, we can appreciate the amount of clothes you go through quickly that were barely worn. We're getting started on the site design soon. We just completed this inviation for the AIGA South Carolina InShow awards ceremony to be held November 6th, in Columbia South Carolina. This was a really fun project. Who would have ever thought we'd be stuffing over 200 hairnets into our custom hairnet packaging! Sandy Lang wrote the grocery copy to make it all come together. Thanks to AIGA South Carolina for asking us to be involved in the project.

A Summer Party

Last week we designed these pieces for The Lee Bros. and Kiawah's Legends Magazine. Matt & Ted Lee dished up their favorite summer recipes during a cocktail party on Saturday night at the Vanderhorst Mansion on Kiawah Island. The letterpressed invitation, menu, canning label and tags were used throughout the photo shoot. We used seasonal fruit patterns and wood veneer as backers for the pieces to add a little local flavor. Look for the full article this Spring!

We are currently working with Anne Bowen from STEMS, a new flower shop opening up downtown. Her new logo is fun, whimsical and a little unexpected. We are finishing up the stationary package right now - a combination of Letterpress and silkscreen printing processes. We can't wait to share the finished product.

We just could not resist, with a name like CANVAS for a hair salon...a real "hair" brush was just the right solution. We used a mixture of paper colors and textures through out all the pieces to give the salon that eclectic feel that the owners were looking for.

Gayle Brooker

All of the pieces for Gayle Brooker's stationery package arrived today. Gayle is a photographer who came to us this winter with lots of inspiring ideas. Using layered painted dots and hand-drawn branches, we worked together to created her logo and identity materials. After all the pieces were printed, we went back and letterpressed Gayle's name to add a little texture.

Last week, Pearl, a beautifully designed clothing boutique, finally opened its doors. We worked with Allison, who named the store after her grandmother, to develop the logo, printed materials, bags, tags and website (which should be up soon!). The blind embossed logo and letterpresed type turned out great. Feels so good!

This spring, Chef Fred Neuville opened Wild Olive, Cucina Italina. We were excited to finally be able to use printed packing tape. We created a system that allowed Fred to apply the tape to pretty much anything.
